A composition instrument and an embedded game

  • The du-touch S gives you immediate access to the rules of harmony to improvise with or without theoretical prerequisites, and offers a unique workflow allowing you to create an entire song in minutes: choose sounds from memory, record loops, and play the conductor in all spontaneity!
  • The du-game is an on-board educational game for learning music theory, replaying typical style pieces and a few known pieces. Similar to Simon (electronic board game), reproduce rhythmic and melodic patterns displayed on the keyboard, guided by the voice of a teacher.

The du-touch S: a concentrate of innovations

A visual and ergonomic approach of harmony

The du-touch offers an intuitive way to guide you to the right path, while allowing you to get out of it. No hassle: just choose a scale, and follow its luminous path to play in tune.

And thanks to our default note layout, it’s very easy to make chords; the dualo principle arranges the notes that sound good together next to each other. You will be amazed at how harmony falls under your fingertips.

Learn more

Invented in 2007 by a musician and mathematician, the dualo principle arranges notes that sound good together next to one another. In music, this corresponds to taking “one note out of two”: the thirds. We thus find ourselves with two complementary keyboards, the chords falling under the fingers of each hand.

This geometric keyboard makes harmony logical; scales and chords become simple and invariable shapes wherever you are on the keyboard.

The effect is increased tenfold thanks to the backlighting of the keyboard illuminating the scales, making it possible to truly avoid false notes!

Compared to a piano keyboard, on our patented note layout the semitones are also laid out horizontally, the harmonious notes (thirds) are always next to one another vertically, and the intervals from any note are always the same.

If you prefer, you can also change the note layout: diatonic (dualo with one note per horizontal line), accordion (system C), universal (accordion system B), piano (Jankó keyboard).

A musical scale is a set of notes from which to build harmonious chords and melodies. On the default note layout, scales can be simply represented by a pair of light paths; whether you are a beginner, amateur or experienced musician, just follow the colors to stay in tune and improvise spontaneously.

Explore different scales (major, minor, dorian, oriental…) and create your own directly on the instrument.

Our default note layout goes back to the basic logic of harmony, putting notes that sound good together (thirds) next to each other vertically. Each type of chord (e.g. major, minor, diminished, sus4…) always forms a single and unique transposable shape anywhere on the double keyboard.

Sounds

Recordings

Settings

Make the essential actions with simple gestures, directly on the instrument:

  • Sounds: choose a sound and one of its 4 presets
  • Recordings: click briefly to launch and stop the recording of a loop, and hold to decide which loops to launch and stop in real time or to change song
  • Settings: edit general settings (key luminosity, MIDI…)
  • Sounds + Settings: edit a preset by adding by adding various essential effects
  • Recordings + Settings: prepare your song (tempo, scale, quantization…)

For each of these menus, the keyboard displays the various associated elements which name and value appear on the screen, and their modification is made using the central slider.

Learn at the speed of lights

Thanks to the backlighting of the keys, it is also possible to display a musical score directly on the keyboard. The du-game, our educational game for learning typical patterns of styles, is based on this principle.

You will also find all the resources you need to get started with the instrument and progress at your own pace.

Learn more

For any song created or imported into memory, you can display the musical score of one of its loops directly on the keyboard; learn how to learn a tune by simply following the lights! This very useful feature will also help you to compose harmonious songs by displaying the score of a loop already recorded, for example to play a bass line in coherence with your chords.

Mobility at the service of pleasure

There’s no secret: the more you practice, the better you get! This is why the du-touch S and the du-game have been designed to be played anywhere and anytime, and optimally thanks to our range of accessories.

The du-belt is an adjustable belt allowing you to play the du-touch while standing.

The du-stand is a wooden stand for playing comfortably on a flat surface or simply displaying your du-touch S.

Control your music differently

The du-touch keyboard is velocity sensitive (3 sensitivity profiles, adjustable per sound preset).

It is also possible to assign effects:
– To pressure (monophonic aftertouch)
– To two tactile sliders in the center of the instrument (the third in the center serving as an adjustment wheel)
– To both axes of the gyroscope (forward/backward and left/right)

An abundant provided soundbank to compose in all styles

The du-touch S comes with an extensive and fully customizable soundbank for composing in a large number of musical styles.

Learn more

By default, the du-touch S includes 139 sounds, each offering 4 different presets. The integrated multi-effect allows them to be edited directly on the instrument, and to assign effects to the tactile sliders, aftertouch or gyroscope.

And thanks to the du-station software, import other sounds, create and import your own from .wav samples (44100Hz, 16 bits), download those shared by the community, and earn new sounds by completing du-game tutorials!

What kind of music will you play?

15 years of improvement and rewards

In 2007, Jules Hotrique, mathematician, invented the dualo principle from the mathematical logic of harmony. Only a few months later, he managed to build the very first prototype of a controller with such a layout. Over the years, the idea evolved into an all-in-one instrument with backlit keys, combining an internal soundbank and a looper, to play and compose today’s music anywhere and spontaneously. The dual keyboard then merged into one, and the instrument split into a keyboard and an app to form Exquis. To read the full story, you can read our blog.

And with the du-game, get the keys to music!

In addition, familiarize yourself with music and improve your vocabulary thanks to our on-board interactive tutorials, which are as educational as they are fun. Simply load tutorials into your du-touch S, and let yourself be guided! Subscription sold separately or as a pack.
